AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY
I was born at a very early age in Guntersville, Alabama.
During my formative years I learned to brush my teeth, tie my shoes and ride
a bicycle. I also listened to Elvis records and wore pajamas with little
animals on them. Since those days everything else has been pretty much of a
blur.
Along the way, however, I did manage to finish school. I
eventually stumbled onto the guitar and figured out enough chords to eke out
a living as a musician. Some years down the road I traded one of my guitars
and an amp to this crop-duster pilot for flying lessons. Several thousand flight
hours later I had conned my way into the captain’s seat of a Boeing 727,
where I’m currently gainfully employed. During that time I also got married,
unmarried and raised my two kittens, Guinness and Heineken, to become useful and productive
members of society.
When
I wasn’t busy composing this autobiography, I recorded a couple of albums
("Swede Home Alabama" and "The Lost Causeway") with some friends of mine from Göteborg, Sweden and Muscle Shoals,
Alabama.
That pretty much sums up my life.
I’ve gotta go
now, I need to brush my teeth.

I’ve always enjoyed listening to a wide
variety of musical styles, particularly rock and roll, blues, black southern
gospel and country.
From early on my favorites were Elvis, Ray
Charles, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Hank Williams, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, Tony Joe White, Muddy Waters, Aretha Franklin, John Lee Hooker,
Howlin’ Wolf, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Sly Stone, Brian
Wilson, Mitch Ryder and The Young Rascals. Later on down the road I
discovered The Band, Sonny Landreth, Allen Toussaint, Tom Waits, John Prine, Randy Newman, Rickie Lee Jones, Bill
Withers, Bob Marley, Steely Dan, Lowell George, Mark Knopfler, Peter
Gabriel, Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, Leonard Cohen, (take a deep
breath) Dwight Yoakam, Jeff
Beck, Roy Buchanan, Van Morrison, John Hiatt, Daniel Lanois, Chris Rea,
Prince, Aimee Mann, Sade, Eva Cassidy, Macy Gray, Sinead
Lohan, Lucinda Williams and Norah Jones (just to mention a few).
I never grow tired of discovering new
music while remaining faithful to the artists that have been with me most of
my life.
